Vintage Crochet Baby Booties Free Pattern |
Modern Pattern:
This vintage crochet bootie pattern is designed for a baby. It uses a lightweight yarn (like a sport or DK weight). Modern crocheters may want to substitute a similar yarn and adjust hook size as needed to achieve the desired gauge. The pattern uses US crochet terminology.
Leg (Cuff):
Using white yarn, chain 11. Turn.
Row 1: Skip the first chain, double crochet (dc) in each of the remaining 10 chains. Turn.
Row 2: Chain 1. Dc in each of the 10 dc, working in the back loop only to create a rib. Turn.
Repeat Row 2 until you have 8 ribs. At the end of the last row, chain 11. Turn. Skip 1 chain, dc in each of the next 10 chains and in the next 10 dc. Chain 1. Turn. Continue working, creating 4 long ribs. Then, working only on the 10 dc, make 8 short ribs. Join at the back of the leg to the foundation chain, working into each stitch.
Upper Part of Leg (Ankle):
Round 1: Chain 3. Treble crochet (tr) in each stitch around (38 tr total). Join to the top of the initial chain-3.
Round 2: Yarn over, pull up a loop through the 1st and 3rd stitches of the previous round, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on the hook, chain 1 to close the cluster. Repeat from * around.
Round 3: Yarn over, pull up a loop in the space before the pineapple stitch (cluster) of the previous round and another loop in the space after, yarn over and draw through all loops on the hook. Repeat from * around.

Rounds 5-6: Repeat Round 3 using white yarn.

Round 8: Using white yarn, chain 3, tr in each dc around. Join.
Round 9: Using blue yarn, dc in the first stitch, chain 3, dc in the same stitch, skip 1 stitch. Repeat from * around. Fasten off.

Round 2: Dc in each dc around, working in both loops (not back loop only).
Rounds 3-4: Repeat Round 2 using white yarn.
Rounds 5-6: Repeat Round 2 using blue yarn.
Rounds 7-10: Repeat Round 2 using white yarn. Join the last round with a slip stitch on the wrong side.
Finishing:
