This is the first granny square crochet pattern I have released! I am very excited to share it. The heart pops up above the granny square background. It crochets quickly, taking on ten minutes per square for me to crochet. This is a great little granny square for Valentine's Day projects.
Key Crochet Techniques
This pattern uses a variety of basic crochet stitches, making it a great project for those who are new to crochet or want to brush up on their skills. The stitches you'll need to know include:
Slip stitch: This stitch is used to join the ends of rows together and to weave in your ends.
Chain stitch: This stitch is used to create foundation chains and spaces between stitches.
Single crochet: This is one of the most basic crochet stitches and is used to create the foundation of the granny square.
Double crochet: This stitch creates a taller stitch than a single crochet and is used to create the body of the heart.
Treble crochet: This stitch is even taller than a double crochet and is used to add definition to the heart.
Chain 3 picot: This stitch creates a small loop, which adds a decorative touch to the granny square.
Material List
To crochet your Pop-Up Heart Granny Square, you'll need the following materials:
Size 6.00 mm crochet hook: This is the size of hook recommended for worsted weight yarn.
Worsted weight yarn in two colors: You can use any color combination that you like. I used Caron brand 1lb yarn.
Scissors: You'll need scissors to cut your yarn.
Yarn needle: A yarn needle is used to weave in your ends.
Additional Pattern Tips
Gauge: The gauge for this pattern is 4 stitches per inch. It's important to check your gauge to ensure that your granny square is the correct size.
Customization: You can customize this pattern by using different colors of yarn, or by adding additional embellishments such as beads or buttons.
Happy Hooking!
